Developing the next generation of academics and researchers’ is an overarching theme for a wide range of work in the Research Office that is designed to develop research capacity.

Emerging researcher programme (ERP)
The ERP is for early career academics and includes a wide range of professional development seminars, workshops and research development grants.

Researcher Development Academy (RDA)
The RDA supports the advancement of scholarship in Africa by providing professional training and development to researchers at all stages of their careers. Their approach is collaborative and involves forging partnerships and working together with institutions on the continent.

Targeted support for academics without PhDs
This support ranges from seminars on the PhD process, training in postgraduate supervision and individual consultations with senior scholars.

Postgraduate studies and postdoctoral fellows
A wide range of resources, from course information and application procedures to fees, funding and support services.

UCT Knowledge Co-op
The UCT Knowledge Co-op offers researchers opportunities and support for engaged scholarship through its links to local groups (NGOs, local government, SMMEs) and their research needs.
