eRA pre-awards application process

The Pre-awards section of the eRA system was created to streamline and standardise the current UCT’s grant application and approval processes. The process differs between internal and external grants and awards. The process flow diagrams below explain the steps involved for various grants.

Internal approval form process
Internal approval is split between proposal approvals and contract approval forms:

  • Proposal approval requests are completed when a researcher is applying for a research grant.
  • Contract approval is applicable when a researcher is awarded a research contract from a funder or arising from a commissioned/consultancy/industry-led contract research.
